Custom Packaging & Prototypes

We design, prototype and produce custom packaging for brands that need their product experience to start with the box. From concept sketches through to finished production, packaging is engineered and built at our Marrickville packaging department.

What we produce

Presentation boxes with magnetic closures, lift-off lids and hinged openings. Product packaging with foam or card inserts. Gift boxes for retail and corporate gifting. Slipcases and protective housings for books and documents. Corrugated mailer boxes with branded interiors.

We also produce packaging prototypes and structural samples for testing before production.

Structural design

Our in-house industrial designer develops packaging structures from a brief. This includes dieline engineering, material selection, closure mechanism design, insert configuration and structural testing. We produce physical prototypes that confirm fit, function and visual impact before tooling.

Materials

Greyboard wrapped in printed paper, cloth or synthetic material. Corrugated board (E-flute, B-flute) for structural packaging. Rigid board for luxury presentation boxes. Timber, acrylic and metal for speciality applications. Materials are selected based on the product weight, fragility and the intended unboxing experience.

Printing and finishing

Packaging is printed on our HP Indigo presses and SwissQprint UV flatbed. Foil stamping, embossing, spot UV and soft-touch celloglaze are applied before assembly. CNC routing and die-cutting shape the packaging components.

Prototyping

Every custom packaging project starts with a prototype. We produce the first sample within days. The prototype is tested with the actual product to confirm dimensions, closure behaviour and insert fit. Revisions are made before production tooling begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you design the packaging structure?

Yes. Our in-house industrial designer develops packaging from a brief, including dieline engineering, material selection and prototype production.

What is the minimum run size?

Custom packaging is hand-assembled, so single prototypes and runs of 10 to 50 are standard. Larger runs are produced using tooled processes.

How long does a prototype take?

Typically 3 to 5 working days from approved concept. Revisions are turned around in 1 to 2 days.

Can packaging include foam inserts?

Yes. We produce or source custom-cut foam, card and fabric inserts to hold products securely within the box.

What finishing is available on packaging?

Foil stamping, embossing, debossing, spot UV, soft-touch celloglaze, edge painting and printed wraps. Finishing is specified at the prototyping stage.
